Interlay Driveways are expert installers of Permeable Paving but what is it exactly?
Permeable block paving allows surface water between the blocks where it is stored in a specially constructed sub-base and then either released slowly into the environment or harvested.
Effectively, your whole drive becomes a drain in its’ own right.
Sometimes there is confusion between the terms Permeable, Porous and Pervious.
A Permeable drive allows water through to the sub-base between the blocks or surface material used and not through the blocks or surface material itself.
A Porous drive allows the water through the surface material itself into the sub-base.
The term Pervious relates to soil.
Although gravel is a Permeable surface because it allows water between the stones, it does not qualify as a permeable drive unless the sub-base has been constructed in such a way to handle the incoming water correctly.
Interlay Driveways will install a beautiful Permeable Drive compliant with Environment Agency requirements and offer a wide range of bricks and colours.
